Homesteading Zombiephan Results

Zombiephan

There’s these vague references to zombies, the coming apocalypse and radical stuff hitting fans, right? Well, regardless of whatever may happen, YOU are ready. But probably most days you aren’t thinking along those lines because you have a wonderfully, complex, hard and simple life you are living. You can survive without the help of neighbors, economies or the grid. You have accomplished the ultimate dream of all homesteaders but with this accomplishment you realize just how much sacrifice and commitment it took. It was not easy. But is was so very worth it. You are strong. You are audacious. You are full of surprises and yet so predictable and hopefully you have retained a bit of a sense of humor.

Zombiephan, wow. You have had a lot of years and success under your belt.

You have a lot of wisdom and probably could teach class after class of all the wonderful things and lessons you have learned.

Even where you stand now, you have dreams: more dreams, higher dreams, deeper dreams.

Keep on dreaming big and deep and wide and in full color. 🙂

First off, remember this:

Know, and More Importantly, Remember Your Why

When you have yet another setback or trial, remember why you are homesteading and living this life to begin with. Without a second thought, what is the first answer that comes to your mind: Why are you homesteading?

Keep this answer close. Write it down. Frame it. Repeat.

This answer with be the sustaining grace in your homesteading journey.

Eliminate Distractions

After years of experience if can be easy to wane a bit in areas. Or to get distracted by an issue or problem that really doesn’t get you closer to your goals. This will look different for each one of us but I have a feeling one thing popped into your mind when you read this: eliminate distractions. So, this week, work on weeding out that one distraction. And the next week, work on another one. You get the picture 🙂

Work on the most important task

It can be easy to get weighed down by a long to-do list. But many times I haven’t taken the time to figure out which task is the most important and which task will get me closer to my long-term goals. Write out your to-do list right now and then put the list in order of the most important task to the least. Work every day on the most important task. With all that you have already accomplished, you still are working towards more, towards living a more self-sufficient life style.

Focus on your own work, your own life

With the advent of Facebook, came the desire and ability to keep up with anyone and everyone. But don’t forget about YOU. Don’t fear the dreams and desires that God has placed in your heart. Believe in yourself. This week, keep trusting yourself, trust that your life is important and that you can AND SHOULD focus on your life, and the dreams within.

Connect or Reconnect

Although this may sound like a contradiction from the above point, you do need to have connections in this life. If life isn’t about relationships, then what is the point? This then becomes the balance of where to focus, how and when. You do need to focus on your dreams and your families life, but you also need a respite of close, like-minded friends who can help you, redirect you and keep you accountable.  It may be hard to admit this or fit it in, but you do need moments to sit and laugh, reminisce and soak in all that you’ve accomplished.

Because you have accomplished so very much. Thank you for all you do.

Your heritage is now. Don’t let your fears, failures or even successes stop you from stepping forward every day.

See you in the next chapter of homesteading 🙂
